Acceptable Use Policy
DRAFT – requires review by a Philippine lawyer before launch. This is a first draft. It is not legal advice and it is not final. Questions: the contact form.
This policy applies to everything hosted, published, sold or sent with the services of Hostactor: hosting, e-mail, domains, managed websites, stores and cards, AI tools and every other service. It is part of the Terms of Service. You are responsible for following it, including for the users of your websites and accounts.
1. Illegal and harmful content
You may not use our services to store, publish, sell, link to or send:
- anything that sexually abuses or exploits children, in any form, including drawn, edited or AI-generated material. We remove it at once, keep the evidence and report it to the authorities as Philippine law requires;
- content or activity that is illegal in the Philippines, such as fraud, scams, illegal gambling, illegal drugs, the illegal sale of weapons, or human trafficking;
- content that threatens or promotes violence or terrorism, or harasses, stalks or bullies others;
- other people's personal data without a lawful basis, including leaked databases, or "doxxing";
- material that infringes someone else's copyright, trademark or other rights, including pirated software, films, music or courses, and counterfeit goods;
- false or misleading claims about products, prices, health, finance or identity, including fake reviews and impersonation of people, businesses or government agencies.
2. Security abuse
- Phishing pages, or any page that collects passwords, card details or one-time codes under false pretences.
- Malware, viruses, ransomware, cryptocurrency mining without the user's consent, or links that install them.
- Attacks on any system or network: hacking, scanning for weaknesses without permission, denial-of-service attacks, brute-force sign-in attempts, or botnet control.
- Getting around our limits or security, using someone else's account, or hiding your identity to do any of the above.
3. E-mail and messages
- No spam: send marketing messages only to people who agreed to receive them, identify yourself as the sender, and include a working way to unsubscribe.
- Do not send bulk e-mail from shared hosting beyond your plan's limits, or use bought or scraped address lists.
- Do not fake sender details, or send messages that pretend to come from someone else.
4. Fair use of resources
- Use the resources included in your plan (such as storage, bandwidth, CPU, memory, mailboxes and e-mails per hour). No plan is unlimited.
- Hosting is for websites and e-mail. Do not use it as file storage or a backup service for unrelated files, for file sharing, streaming servers, game servers, proxies, VPNs or crypto mining.
- Do not run anything that degrades the service for other customers. If a site does, we may limit it and ask you to move to a suitable plan.
5. AI tools
- Do not use AI tools to create any content that this policy forbids, to impersonate real people, or to produce spam or deceptive content at scale.
- Do not try to get around the usage limits of your plan or the safety measures of the AI providers.
6. Online stores and dropshipping
- Sell only products and services you are allowed to sell in the places you sell them. Do not sell prohibited or regulated goods without the required permits.
- Describe products, prices, delivery times and return terms honestly, and deliver what you sell.
7. What we do
- We look into reports and problems we detect. Usually we tell you what we found and ask you to respond or fix it within 3 days.
- In urgent cases (for example phishing, malware, attacks, or content that harms children), or where the law requires it, we may act at once (for example block the content, suspend the service or limit e-mail) and tell you afterwards.
- Depending on how serious and how repeated the problem is, we may remove or block content, limit resources, suspend or end the service, and refuse future orders. We do not refund fees for a service that is suspended or ended because of a serious breach of this policy, unless the law requires it.
- We cooperate with the authorities when the law requires it, for example under a court order or a lawful request.
8. Reporting a problem
To report content or activity on our services, use the abuse report form or write to the contact form. The Abuse and Takedown Policy explains what to include, how we handle reports, and which authorities you can contact.
